Gun control has been a major issue in the united states for a long period of time, but it seems to have gotten a little ridiculous this past year. Just recently, a law in California was passed that would prevent loaning guns to anyone but direct family. “AB 1511, authored by Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles), would ban loaning firearms to anybody besides immediate family, which is defined as a spouse, domestic partner, child, sibling, or grandparent.” The question is, who is going to be prevented from committing murder by passing this law? The answer is a blatant nobody. The same goes with the inner-cities, with the strongest gun laws and the highest gun violence.
There is no question that the inner-cities have extremely high levels of gun violence, but did you know that their gun control laws are some of the highest in the cities? Chicago is known for having some of the strong gun control laws in the country, but is also considered one of the most dangerous cities in the country. That’s why these extreme gun laws aren’t helping, and are only limiting the rights of law-obeying gun owners. Now, some gun laws are useful, but not all are completely necessary. Background checks are useful, and not allowing a criminal to purchase a gun is also smart, but not letting a friend hold a gun, that’s ludicrous. The passing of that law in California made absolutely no sense, it wouldn’t change the gun violence in California. If a criminal wanted to follow a law then they wouldn’t be a criminal.
Los Angeles has been known to have high levels of gun violence, but mostly due to gang related affairs. Now, that seems to make a lot of sense, but why don’t any of the news channels report any of the deaths from LA? A big reason why they don’t report violence in Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles is because they have some of the tightest gun laws in the country, and there’s constant gun violence in those areas. The left-wing agenda to push gun laws to restrict the ability to protect yourself is being helped by the fact that nobody is reporting the violence in the inner-cities, and people would be shocked to hear how often people are shot for no good reason in those areas.
“Well without guns then there couldn’t be violence,” Only two words are needed to prove this statement is wrong, “France 2015”. If there would be no violence without guns and gun laws could get rid of them completely, then how did the ISIS attack in France happen? It’s impossible to remove all guns from a country, and just as hard to make criminals obey the laws. That’s another reason why all these gun control laws seem so idiotic. Criminals don’t obey laws when they murder someone, why would they second guess something because there’s a law saying “You can’t own a gun with a magazine carrying more than 10 bullets”? Modern gun control is a failing concept, and the sooner the public realize this the better.
